Bringing Health And Wealth To Life
A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor's book.
ANTIOXIDANTS
ANTIOXIDANTS are the substances/chemicals that inhibit the oxidation of other molecules
called free radicals . As discussed in my previous posts, free radicals contain reactive oxygen
which start a chain reaction destroying healthy cells of the body. Antioxidants prevent this by
curbing the free radicals and inhibit their oxidation reaction. Thus Antioxidants are reducing
agents by themselves.
Antioxidants are also known as “free radical scavengers.”
Although oxidation reactions are crucial for life, they can also be damaging; plants and animals
maintain complex systems of multiple types of antioxidants, such as glutathione, vitamin C,
vitamin A, and vitamin E as well as enzymes such as catalase, superoxide dismutase and various
peroxidases. Insufficient levels of antioxidants, or inhibition of the antioxidant enzymes, cause
oxidative stress and may damage or kill cells
Laboratory and animal research has shown that exogenous
antioxidants can help prevent the free
radical damage associated with the development of
cancer.
All antioxidants are either exogenous, like those found in vitamins and foods, or endogenous,
produced by your body. Endogenous antioxidants are more powerful free radical fighters than
those you can get from your diet.
There are various types of Antioxidants in nature like Vitamin C,
Ginseng, Green Tea,
Enzogenol. I will talk about Enzogenol in my next post
